AK Army NG - Bryant Field, Fort Richardson, AK (PAFR)- 11 April 2008

We went for a visit to Bryant Field in order to see some of the elusive C-23s that are still operational from here, before they are due to be replaced by the C-27J.

Although a very small detachment is here it was interesting to see around the facility.

It's getting rarer and rarer nowadays to have the opportunity to shoot live Short SD.330s or C-23 Sherpas as they are known in US military service.

Unbeknown to us they had other plans for our visit - a flight in a UH-60. Cool, a quick 20 minute flight would be very interesting.

Well 90 minutes later after flying low level over the glaciers couldn't have been better.

Many thanks to everyone that made this happen.

Preserved here is the CH-54 that airlifted the Catalina that was recovered from a lake that now sits at the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum on Lake Hood.
