On Wednesday 28th January three T-37s departed Marana Regional Airport in Arizona on delivery to the Colombian Air Force with their CASA C-295 mothership".
They were flown the short distance from AMARC at Davis-Monthan AFB to Marana where a hangar was rented and FAC engineers checked the aircraft over and fitted them with VHF radios in preparation for the long delivery flight.
Columbia uses A-37s to fight the drug war, and the T-37s are used for training - four aircraft had already been delivered in October 2008.
The CASA C-295 provides back-up and support on the journey home. They performed the delivery journey over three days with flying 10 legs as the Tweet has only around a 200 mile range. (Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama and Columbia)
