Solo’s restaurant is a C97 made into a restaurant on the outskirts of Colorado Sprint Municipal Airport.
The aircraft itself is pretty much complete, with the port wing and outside engine being incorporated into the main restaurant itself.
I was greeted by my stewardess and asked if I wanted to sit in the main restaurant or the aircraft – well der!
I was then taken to the front of the fuselage and seated in 1st class and wished a good flight.
There are photos of C97’s and other aircraft all over the restaurant and models hanging from the ceiling. I don’t think it could be any more aviation themed.
The cockpit is open and seems pretty much intact apart from the switches on the overhead panel – this is the part the kids really enjoy, as they can sit in the pilot’s seat and “fly” the aircraft. One kid was so excited when he was led back to his table by his mother that he kept asking when the plane would be starting!
