Cay - London, LA2 Monday 27th March 2000
It's going to be a heavy week. I've got four gigs pencilled in for this week - and what better way to start off than a good dose of Cay?

I arrived half way through Crashland's set. This was due to being stuck in traffic not 2 miles away, and moving about 20 metres in 25 minutes - joy! Crashland are a good band to see live, but they are just missing a vital ingredient that I can't quite put my finger on.

Then on came Cay. Cay? What happened to My Vitriol? Apparently they have been switching the order of the support bands on each day of the tour. Talking to one of the punters at the end, it seems that hardly anyone was there to see them as they were on at 19:30 sharp. I'm reliably informed that they did kick ass though.

Cay went through the usual back catalogue of kicking tunes, scattered with a couple of new songs in between. But the old favourites of 'Poppyhead' and '7even' caused the most commotion. At one point there was just a huge sea of bodies in the air crowd surfing. Full marks to the security as well... no pulling the audience off to the side of the stage to fight their way back into the crowd, but pointing back to the crowd and making the surfers go back the way they came (and wanted to go back). A refreshing change to the gig Cay did at the Garage a few months ago, where people were apparently kicked out!

A great performance by Cay and one that the band looked like they enjoyed.
